Welcome to Beau Hajavitch's Osborne Village Inn Zoo Archives site.

This site contains one picture each of a variety of rock bands that Beau Hajavitch has photographed at The Zoo over the years along with biographical information on each band.

The Zoo is the famous rock bar at the Osborne Village Inn in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Zoo is considered as one of the legendary music venues in Canada, having been in operation since 1962. The Zoo's "little brother" is Ozzy's Lounge, located in the basement of the Osborne Village Inn. The Osborne Village Inn is located at 160 Osborne Street, in the heart of Winnipeg's hip and trendy Osborne Village district. The link to their My Space page is at the bottom of this page. This site had a strange way of coming into being. In fact, it wasn't supposed to even be a website at all.

Here's the story: Osborne Village Inn co-proprietor Chuck Green asked Beau, who he previously knew when Beau shot bands at The Zoo for his former TV show Hard Rock Heroes, if he could e-mail Chuck all his photographs of bands playing at The Zoo for Chuck to include on his website for the Osborne Village Inn, The Zoo, and Ozzy's. It took a while for Beau to locate all the photos, scan them, and e-mail them, but he did. Then Beau waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, Chuck told Beau he was getting a new webmaster.

Chuck found a new webmaster, who turned out to be a friend/acquaintance of Beau's. Beau was overjoyed and went out and took a new batch of photos. But this new webmaster didn't want to put Beau's photos on The Zoo's website, either, due to money issues. He said, "Why don't you do a page on each band, with the band's photo, and I'll link your page to the band's name on The Zoo's website?"

And that's how this website came to be.

It took a long time for Beau to locate the information on these bands (since Beau has a full time job and sleeps a lot) and to write them all up, but Beau did it. By this time, though, Beau's friend stopped being The Zoo's webmaster and Chuck had found another webmaster. Several e-mails explaining what this was all about later, and this new webmaster had done one even better: Instead of linking the band's name on The Zoo's website to the band's page that you click on below, he made his own page and simply copied and pasted the HTML onto it, making it officially part of the Zoo website.

But that situation only existed briefly, as what happened next was that Chuck decided to let the Osborne Village Biz have the Osborne Village Inn's perennially misleading web URL of osbornevillage.com. There would be no new home to replace that URL for the Osborne Village Inn website and the web presence of the Osborne Village Inn, The Zoo, and Ozzy's would now be exculsively found at their My Space page. Therefore, Beau decided he would flesh out this title page and maintain the original pages he created as an independent website.
