Barry G. Player has become a household name in Winnipeg rock circles. An established player in western Canada's music scene, he is a graduate of Hollywood, California's Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), and he is the regional winner of Canada's Guitar Warz competition. Barry has extensive experience as a nightclub and concert performer, session player, and instructor. He played in Chris Burke-Gaffney's post-Pumps/Orphan band, Dead Beat Honeymooners.
His current band, the Barry G. Player Band, is a trio that plays melodic hard rock in a style that marries old school musicianship with a modern edge.
Barry G. Player provides dazzling guitar solos. Eric Gudmandson is a powerful yet truly incredible drummer, who can actually keep up with Barry, while Roger Colpitts brings it all together with his bass techniques.
BGPB has opened for Molly Hatchet, Joan Jett, Blood Sweat & Tears, Trooper, Harlequin, Jack Semple, Dr. Hook, King's X, Pat Travers, Nazareth, Kenny Shields and Streetheart, Marcy Playground, and The Pumps/Orphan.
BGPB's three-song EP, "...Just a Taste", was released late in 2003. Each song has received airplay on Winnipeg radio stations.
