In their 11th year of existence with the current lineup, Trouser Mouth has managed to sell 50,000 albums with little mainstream support, charting on alternative and college radio in Canada, USA, UK, Germany and Australia. Always pushing the boundaries with their controversial lyrical content, Trouser Mouth is currently touring behind their newest full length release, Rock N' Roll Whore, featuring guest appearances by Tracii Guns (LA Guns), Chi Pig (SNFU), and William Weber (GG Allin & The Murder Junkies).
There has been much speculation and debate on the history of Trouser Mouth.
The most accepted story is that Trouser Mouth was formed in 1986 from the remains of the bands Piss On My Back and Egg Salad Sandwich. They toured extensively until their fall from grace in 1993 when Pantonio Tubesock couldn't stop puking at a show at CBGB in New York (he also did that there in 1988). A brutal beating put the boys in rehab and and after stints in bands like Anno Domini and Corporate Weasel, they re-united in 1997 committed to perfecting the new musical genre of drunk rock.
After many other members including Danish Horns, BS Friesen and BK Bryce came and went, the addition of Theodore S. Beats (SNFU, DOA, JP5, TED) in 1998 rounded out the lineup and emptied the bottles faster than you can say "Go Fuck Your Hat!"
Trouser Mouth then released 2 EPs (Flip Traps & Flap Jacks and Give Us Everything) which are long out of print (500 and 2000 copies respectively). These are highly collectible albums which have been trading on Ebay for as high as $500.00.
2002 saw Trouser Mouth release the critically acclaimed album Only Users Lose Drugs with the single "I Can't Drink And Drive With You Yelling Like That" reaching the airwaves on campus radio in Canada, US, Europe and beyond. Only Users Lose Drugs is considered by many to be Trouser Mouth’s best album and has sold 47,000 copies as of January 2008.
In the year 2004, Trouser Mouth released their long awaited CD Kissing Hands And Shaking Babies with Canadian distribution handled by Reversed Records and European distribution handled by Very Pantsmen Records. They also held a karaoke contest from hell, aptly titled "Trouser Idol", which took place at the legendary punk rock bar The Royal Albert in Winnipeg.
In July 2005, Trouser Mouth released "Trouser Idol" on DVD and held "Trouser Idol 2" once again at The Albert. Guest judges included Cretin Rob of Cretin Radio on 101.5 UMFM, Quinton from the Albert, and Hedwig from the hit 2003 Fringe Festival play "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."
Shortly after this Trouser Mouth was unceremoniously dumped by their label Reversed Records. When owner/producer Rob Shalcross (Strapping Young Lad, Gwar) was asked to comment, he only replied “Chicken!”
In the spring of 2006, the Mouth went back into the studio one more time to record Steel Urinal! Pass the Puck released on the Very Pantsmen label. Modest record sales (17,000 units as of 2008) disappointed the Mouth but watched sales pick up in 2007 after releasing the album digitally via Itunes.
Trouser Mouth had plans to enter the studio in spring of 2008 to record Get Off The Babysitter! We Need The Couch! with an intended summer ’08 release. And that's where their history leaves off. Anyone know if they made that record or not?
